Everything you need to know about hiring Filipino virtual assistants and using WorkFil.
WorkFil is a Philippines-focused remote work marketplace where international employers hire Filipino virtual assistants, bookkeepers, cold callers, customer service reps, and other remote professionals. The platform is 100% free for both employers and job seekers.
Yes. Employers can post jobs, browse the talent directory, message candidates, and hire at zero platform cost. Job seekers can create profiles, apply to jobs, and message employers free of charge. No subscription, no placement fee, no credit card required.
We are building a sustainable business through optional premium features for high-volume employers in the future. The core hiring workflow — post, browse, message, hire — will remain free permanently.
OnlineJobs.ph charges employers $69–$99 per month to contact candidates. WorkFil is free for both sides. We also feature AI-scored candidate profiles, skill badges, and a modern messaging workflow. For a detailed comparison, see our platform comparison article.
Click 'Post a Job' in the navigation, sign up as an employer (takes 30 seconds), and complete a short job description form. Your listing goes live immediately and Filipino candidates can apply within minutes.
Rates range from $4–$18/hour depending on role and experience. General VAs start at $4–$7, bookkeepers at $5–$15, executive assistants at $7–$14, and specialized roles like Amazon VAs or senior content writers at $10–$18.
Every WorkFil profile includes an AI-generated quality score, skill badges (based on experience), work history, years of experience, English proficiency, and uploaded CV. We recommend shortlisting 3–5 candidates, running a paid test task, and conducting a Zoom interview before hiring.
Payment is arranged directly between you and your hired worker. The most common methods are Wise (formerly TransferWise), Payoneer, and direct bank transfer. WorkFil does not process payments or take any cut.
Most Filipino remote workers hired through WorkFil are engaged as independent contractors. This is the standard arrangement for international remote work. If you need formal employment contracts with Philippine compliance, you may need a managed-service platform like VirtualStaff.ph or an employer of record.
You can end the engagement at any time per the terms you agree to with the contractor. Post a new role on WorkFil free of charge to find a replacement.
Click 'Create Profile' in the navigation, sign up with your email, and complete a profile with your skills, experience, tools, hourly rate, and availability. Upload your CV and our AI generates a quality score and skill badges.
Never. WorkFil is 100% free for Filipino job seekers. No placement fee, no registration fee, no subscription. You keep every dollar you earn from your employer.
A complete profile with a professional photo, detailed skills, verified CV, and competitive hourly rate ranks higher in search. Apply directly to jobs matching your skills and respond quickly to employer messages — most hires happen within 24–48 hours of the first message.
Rates vary by role and experience. See our salary guides for specific roles: Filipino VA salary guide, cold caller rates, bookkeeper rates. A good starting point is to benchmark against 3–5 similar profiles in the talent directory.
Most Filipino remote workers receive payment via Wise, Payoneer, or direct bank transfer. Wise and Payoneer are the two most popular because they offer competitive exchange rates and low fees for USD-to-PHP transfers.
Yes. WorkFil connects you with verified international employers. All communication and agreements are directly between you and the employer — WorkFil is not an intermediary or agency. Always conduct your own due diligence before accepting any role.
Real employers don't charge fees to apply. If a listing asks for registration fees, training fees, or refundable deposits before starting work — it's a scam. Also watch for vague role descriptions with unusually high pay, or communication exclusively through personal messaging apps.
Philippine Standard Time is UTC+8. Most experienced Filipino VAs and support agents are accustomed to working night shifts (Philippine time) to align with US business hours. US East Coast 9am–5pm = Philippine 10pm–6am.
Yes. The Philippines has one of the highest English-proficiency rates in Asia. English is a medium of instruction from primary school, and the country's BPO industry has produced millions of skilled English-speaking professionals. Most mid-level Filipino VAs have neutral or near-neutral English accents.
Yes. Even for informal contractor arrangements, a simple one-page agreement covering scope of work, hourly rate, payment terms, IP ownership, and termination procedures protects both parties. Free templates are available from LegalTemplates and Docracy.
Record a Loom walkthrough of the role's tasks, create a one-page SOP per task, run a shadow week where work is reviewed before publishing, and hold daily 15-minute check-ins for the first two weeks. See our complete Filipino VA hiring guide for detailed onboarding guidance.
