Lead Generation Philippines: Hire, Rates & What It Costs to Run
The three roles people call lead generation, what each costs ($4–$14/hr), the full monthly stack including data and deliverability tooling, and the screening tests that separate real operators from tool-talkers.
The Economics of Offshore Lead Generation
Outbound lead generation is a numbers business. To book ten qualified meetings a month you might need 1,500 verified contacts, 3,000 emails, and 400 dials. The work that produces those numbers — research, list building, enrichment, sequencing, follow-up — is methodical and teachable. The judgement calls sit at the edges: who to target, what to say, when to hand off.
That structure is why lead generation is one of the most commonly offshored functions, and why the Philippines dominates it. A Filipino lead generation specialist costs $5–$10/hour. A US SDR costs $4,500–$7,000/month fully loaded, and a lead-gen agency will quote $2,000–$8,000/month for less transparency than an in-house hire gives you.
Three Different Roles People Call "Lead Generation"
1. List Builder / Researcher — $4–$7/hour
Builds and verifies contact lists against a defined ideal customer profile. Works in Apollo, Sales Navigator, Clay, or plain LinkedIn plus a verification tool. Output is a clean CSV: name, role, company, email, phone, and the one or two custom fields your sequence needs. Measure them on verified-contact volume and bounce rate, not hours.
2. Outbound SDR / Appointment Setter — $6–$10/hour
Runs the sequences and the conversations. Sends and replies to email, works LinkedIn, and for many Filipino specialists takes the calls too — the Philippines has two decades of call-centre depth and the accent neutrality that comes with it. Measure them on meetings booked and meetings held, with a bonus tied to held rather than booked so no-shows are their problem too.
3. Lead Gen Operations — $8–$14/hour
Owns the machinery rather than the outreach: deliverability, domain warming, CRM hygiene, sequence performance, data enrichment pipelines, reporting. If you are running more than two SDRs or more than a few thousand sends a month, this role pays for itself by keeping your domains out of spam folders.
What This Costs to Run Properly
| Line item | Monthly | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Specialist (full-time, $7/hr) | ~$1,213 | Roughly ₱70,000 |
| Data / enrichment | $50 – $300 | Apollo, Clay, Sales Navigator |
| Sending infrastructure | $30 – $150 | Secondary domains, inbox rotation, warming |
| Email verification | $20 – $80 | Non-negotiable — protects deliverability |
| Total | ~$1,300 – $1,750 | Versus $4,500+ for one US SDR |
Screening: What Separates Good from Average
Ask for Their Actual Numbers
"In your last role, how many contacts did you build a week, what was the bounce rate, and how many meetings came out of it?" Someone who has genuinely done the work answers with figures and knows their bounce rate. Someone who has not will talk about tools.
Give a Paid List-Building Test
Two hours, paid, with a real ICP: "50 verified contacts, VP Marketing or above, US SaaS companies 50–200 employees, plus one personalisation field per contact." Then run the list through a verifier yourself. Bounce rate above 5% means they skipped verification. Generic personalisation fields mean they will write generic emails.
For Callers, Do a Live Roleplay
Ten minutes on a video call, you playing a mildly irritated prospect. You are listening for composure and recovery, not a polished script. Filipino SDRs from a BPO background handle this well; the ones who freeze on an unexpected objection will freeze on your prospects too.
Check the Time Zone Honestly
Manila is UTC+8. US Eastern business hours mean a 9pm–6am Philippine shift. Plenty of Filipino specialists work that shift by choice and have done for years — but ask directly, pay a night differential, and do not assume enthusiasm at interview survives month three. For email-only roles this problem disappears entirely.
Compliance You Are Responsible For
Hiring offshore does not move the legal obligation. If you are emailing the EU or UK you are inside GDPR and PECR; if you are calling US numbers you are inside TCPA and the national Do Not Call registry. Give your specialist a written rule sheet covering suppression lists, opt-out handling, and which regions are off-limits, and audit against it monthly. Most offshore compliance failures are instruction failures, not diligence failures.
The First 30 Days
Week 1: ICP definition, tooling access, and a 100-contact test list you personally review. No sends.
Week 2: sequence drafting, domain and inbox warming, suppression rules in place. Still no volume.
Weeks 3–4: first campaign at deliberately low volume — 50 sends a day maximum — while you watch reply sentiment and bounce rate. Scale only once both look clean.
The instinct to start at full volume in week one is the single most expensive mistake in outbound. Burnt domains take months to recover.
